Today I got some work back from the framers "Sylkenwood Framers and Art Gallery" in Clareville just north of Carterton, Wairarapa. The work looks lovely - very professional.
Here is just a peek. Have a look at my Gallery page to see the rest.
Monday is my Lake Ferry day. This way I won't just go on beautiful days but what ever Monday brings, that is it.
Today was grey, grey, grey. It was raining and blowing, not enough to knock me over but enough to make me a bit wobbly on the sand. It seemed very soft today and very hard to walk in and I forgot my gumboots so my shoes filled with sand.
Everything looked soft and indistinct.
The cliffs had lost their orange coloured layers and I could hear the wind as it rushed over them and out to sea.
As we walked further along at the top of the beach my jacket caught in the wind and flapped like a sail. The grasses were curved over and lay against the sand. The ridges of sand were still dry on the seaward side.
I couldn't resist going down to the sea which was flattened by the wind and the waves were curling close to the sand.
Today I couldn't hear the sea, even when I walked along by the shore, the wind and the rain overpowered the sound of anything else.
While I was at the beach I wanted to photograph three pieces of work that I had done this last week after going to Lake Ferry. They are all 4 X 4 ins and reflect the colours and textures of the sea and the sand.
Today there were groups of sea birds on the beach, large black backed gulls and smaller black-billed sea gulls clustered together. And I am sure I saw sky larks down on the sand.
The bar between the sea and Lake Onoke looked very swift and deep as the tide ran out.
And there were two very brave people netting for whitebait. I noticed they stayed very close to the shore as they scooped their nets and tipped any whitebait into a container.
My treasures today were beautiful coloured real paua shells. Today was not really a treasure sort of day. It was difficult to walk on the beach and taking photos was a challenge. I wonder how next week will be.
